Over the holiday my debit card was canceled due to fraudulent activity—somebody had used it to buy $300 worth of gas, and my bank rightfully contacted me to question it. So the card was replaced and I updated it with the various merchants who draft from it. But I forgot about Golds Gym, which drafts my monthly gym fee on it.

What happened next was surreal. A month later, I started getting these collection calls…
